The Outdoor Alliance for Kids (OAK) is putting its best foot forward to help ensure kids do the same outdoors, whether they’re hiking, biking or traipsing around the neighborhood. The organization recently launched its new Get Your Nature On Challenge, a Facebook app that lets kids log their outdoor activities while challenging other friends and family members to participate.
By participating, kids can have fun challenging themselves and their Facebook friends to get active, get healthy and get outdoors,” says OAK’s Jackie Ostfeld, who also serves as the National Youth Representative for the Sierra Club. “If getting outdoors and improving your health aren’t reward enough, participating in the Get Your Nature On challenge will allow kids to earn cool badges like these on Facebook.”
Participants can also log their hours towards the Let’s Move Outside PALA (President’s Active Lifestyle Award) through the App, with the challenge also supporting the First Lady’s Let’s Move Outside campaign to end childhood obesity within one generation.
OAK is a national alliance working to reconnect children, youth and families with the outdoors for their health and the health of the planet. Learn more about OAK and check out our members on our website: www.outdoorsallianceforkids.org.
